• Mickey..that is stocks..not stalks :) Several have indicated that respect goes both ways..you respect your kids and htey respect you back...maybe.

• What I am guessing is that the "homeless" portion wasnt a threat of actually being homeless. The kid didn't call and dad didn't know where he was. The "homeless" portion may have been a reference to the fact the kid didn't "acknowledge" having a home by not calling.

• Actually, I just read the original article and apparently the kid in question wasn't even the one who called but a friend called in his place. As for the sitting in a corner idea...it would only make the kid bored.

• It's called abstract thinking...."homeless" in this case didn't refer to actual homelessness but the idea that the kid forgot he had a home to call.

• Earning respect is all well and good but when it comes to kids, parents need to demand it first at a young age' the earning of respect comes with time and a 2 or 3 year old hasn't had enough time to evaluate the situation.

• The problem comes in that we don't know how this particular issue has/had progressed.

No. I think it's ridiculous. The LEGO gun was barely 2 inches in size.

• j...only problem with a toothpick is that it has at least one pointy end...possibly even (gasp) two. A child would get suspended or even expelled for carrying a sharp object that could be used to stab someone.

• A small "gun"...the principal could have simply taken the boy aside, taken the toy away until the end of the day and explained to him the reasons for doing so. • Marty...he was playing with the toy during his lunch break..he wasn't in class. Last I looked, bringing a toy to school and playing with it at lunch, or during a scheduled recess isn't regulated.

No, a child has no say in how big or small he or she is.

• Any child should be insured regardless, especially babies and toddlers. Good grief..is the insurance company under the impression the toddler is dyslexic or something? Unreal.....
